A Master Craftsman

“The Lord already possessed me long ago, when his way began, before any of his works.

I was appointed from everlasting from the first, before the earth began.

I was beside him as a master craftsman.

Whoever finds me finds life and obtains favor from the Lord.

Whoever sins against me harms himself. All those who hate me love death.” (Proverbs 8:22-23, 30a, 35-36 GW)

(Context—Proverbs 8:22-36 GW)

Science isn't as reliable as you might think. Many spurious scientific claims and discoveries are and can be proven false.

For example, Cold Fusion—the 1989 claim of two scientists that energy could be produced via electrolysis of heavy water—could not be replicated nor verified by other scientists.

Recently, the claim of parallel universes being a possibility is making a comeback of sorts on the internet. The operative word is possibility. Since it can't be proven or disproven, people can hold onto this as some hope for life beyond our planet.

Of course, there are various theories on the creation of our earth. People tend to gravitate towards any explanation other than creationism. Ultimately, it comes down to faith—what you are inclined or willing to put your faith in.

A person needs to make a similar choice between the value and validity of wisdom whose origin is human or divine.

It's a personal choice as it ought to be. But here's the irony as I see it. Human wisdom—whether based on science, philosophy, or psychology—is abstract, biased, and limited. God's wisdom is eternal and infinite and practical.

The basic distinction between evolution and creationism is similar. Creation was a personal act of an eternal being—God. Evolution is a human attempt to explain Creation.

The Bible speaks to this eternal and personal origin of creation and identifies the Lord Jesus as the Creator who spoke everything into existence (Genesis 1:3; John 1:1-4; Colossians 1:15-17; Hebrews 1:2; 11:3).

Jesus is wisdom personified "as a master craftsman," as noted in the text above from Proverbs.

Choosing between godly wisdom and human wisdom can be a matter of life and death.

Whoever finds me finds life... All those who hate me love death.

Choose wisely!

Reflection—

Human wisdom—whether based on science, philosophy, or psychology—is abstract, biased, and limited. God's wisdom is eternal and infinite.

Prayer Focus—

Do you need wisdom? Ask God for it—for everyday life and for important decisions you need to make at any time. God promises to give us wisdom generously without shaming us (James 1:5 GW).
