Five years before the start of Rainbow Village, a group of Christian women became aware of the increasing need for a shelter for abandoned babies in the city of Dumaguete. They started praying for guidance and direction concerning such a shelter. Read Aaron's Story for more of the early background.
The Kimball family came to Dumaguete City in 1990 as missionaries. They too had a vision for an orphanage, and felt directed by God to open their home to abandoned and needy babies and children. It was originally incorporated as Rainbow Orphanage in 1991.
Rainbow Village was a licensed and accredited child-caring agency through DSWD, also able to care for young women and girls who were victims of sexual abuse. We operated through donations from churches and individuals from around the world. Our staff was comprised of both local Filipino staff and volunteer missionaries.

Rainbow Village Ministries was a Christ-centered home for abandoned children. Since 1991, we were licensed with the Philippine government to operate a child-caring facility. Located in the Central Visayas region of the Philippines, RVM worked closely with the local Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Our goal was to be a beacon of hope and a safe haven for orphaned, abused and rejected children and young women. We were committed to restore and nurture physical health, emotional well-being, social development, and spiritual awareness of a loving God who will never leave them, nor forsake them.
We worked to reunite children with their biological family when possible or place them in a permanent adoptive family. International adoptions went through the Inter-Country Adoption Board (ICAB). We cared for the abandoned and abused for over 23 years and were blessed doing so.
