The Book of Ruth is not a random romantic story, but a significant look at the sovereignty of God and His plan of redemption for all people within the world.

It also contains interesting character studies of the main people—Naomi, Ruth, and Boaz.

The Mosaic Law and history of Israel give prophetic insight to make the history of the Bible relevant to our own time. Ruth provides a sort of “God’s-eye view” into the history of Israel and the world.

This was a refreshing study. The pace and ease of each devotion was a nice relief from some of the very intensive, break-neck work that some studies require, which allowed the group to meet each week, dig in, and thoroughly discuss the scripture and the happenings throughout the book. It incited critical thinking and provocative discourse as we discussed the culture of the time vs. today, all the while reflecting on God’s timing in our own lives.
