This is an introductory guide to the Inductive Bible Study (IBS) approach to studying the Bible. A basic and general explanation of what the Inductive Bible Study approach is and how it is a reliable and systematic way to study the Bible.
This guide will help a person understand the difference between deductive and inductive Bible study. It introduces the basics of the 3 primary steps of the Inductive Bible Study approach—Observation, Interpretation, and Application. An explanation is given on what each step is designed to accomplish for an objective and systematic study of the Scriptures. Examples are given on how to Observe, Interpret, and make an Application of the Bible text. An Addenda is included with helpful guidance on using a study journal, the definition of terms, and making a simple outline from a Bible text.
