There's been a fascination with angels for a long time. It's no wonder. They're creatures of another dimension.
Books are written about angels and they appear in significant places and times in the Bible (Gen 19:1-13; Dan 8:15-27; Luke 1:26-38).
But not all angels are good. Some exist on the dark side of the universe as enemies to God and those who trust in Him. In spite of all their wondrous appearances, abilities, and qualities, God is greater.
Scripture
So he became higher than the angels. The name he received is more excellent than theirs. God never said to any of the angels,
"You are my Son. Today I have become your Father." (Psalm 2:7)
Or, "I will be his Father. And he will be my Son." (2 Samuel 7:14; 1 Chronicles 17:13)
God's first and only Son is over all things. When God brings him into the world, he says,
"Let all of God's angels worship him." (Deuteronomy 32:43) [vss 4-6]
Here is something else God says about the angels.
"God makes his angels to be like winds. He makes those who serve him to be like flashes of lightning." (Psalm 104:4)
But here is what he says about the Son.
"You are God. Your throne will last for ever and ever. Your kingdom will be ruled by what is right.
You have loved what is right and hated what is evil.So your God has placed you above your companions.
He has filled you with joy by pouring the sacred oil on your head." (Psalm 45:6,7) [vss 7-9]

Reflection...
Angels are often held as mysterious beings, who seem to be like God, yet also like humans. But they are not equal with God, nor are they human.
God's Son Jesus is greater than angels and became human to rescue humanity from the power of sin. "You are God" (in verse 8), makes it clear that Jesus is superior to all the angels.
We're also reminded the Father placed Jesus "above" and is the Anointed One (verse 9), a reference to Jesus being the Messiah, the Savior now seated on the throne next to the Father (Heb 1:3).
This is the second point of several reminders in the book of Hebrews that Jesus is supreme over all.
